I am passionate about silk painting, but not passionate about sales! I have a hard time selling my things because they are so dear to my heart. I would much prefer to give them as gifts, one of my greatest pleasures.
For the upcoming holiday season however, Costa Rica Silks has a stand at the mall in Liberia, Costa Rica with the lovely ladies of Atelier Belisa. While I have my silks on display and for sale, they have a wonderful assortment of necklaces, earrings, bracelets, and cell phone decorations made of everything from pearls, glass, leather, seeds and even dried orange peels. Really !
Though it is exhausting, it is really enjoyable, especially living in a small town, to be out and about, seeing familiar faces and friends. I spend so much time at home which is an oasis and in my studio (my favorite place to be) that it has been a joy to be out in the world and seeing people, watching the Christmas decorations being put up and the children not only happy about the holidays but about the end of the Costa Rican school year.
Being there for three straight days was quite the experience and I was dying to get back to the studio, but I am also looking forward to next weekend to be out in the world again. This time at the same Mall with my silks and to enjoy the lighting of the Christmas tree, Christmas Carolers and even a visit from Santa. I get the feeling I will be less “bah humbug” this year than the last few ! Ho ho ho!!
