Yesterday a 36×60 sarong was stretched, ready to come alive and I had no idea what I was going to paint on it. My dear, long lost friend, Judy, with whom I have rekindled a friendship (through Facebook) but haven’t seen in person in over 30 years, wants a silk, but I am still waiting for her to tell me what colors and design she wants on her silk.
So I looked out the window of my studio. I saw all kinds and shapes of leaves, and started drawing leaves, leaves and more leaves ! My son, Henry, youngest of the five, when he was tiny, used to say “Leaf me alone” (when one of his siblings was bugging him – happens often in a big family!)… I have named this silk “Leaf me alone” because it is all leaves and one morpho butterfly. I will post a shot of the final product. I am excited about this one!
